Meet Some of our Artists Nelson Wivyl
Nelson is a 29 yr old proud father of three (2 boys and a girl) who resides in the small community of Cadenet a village in Montrouis. He is a jewelry-maker and uses sea shells, coffee beans, bamboo sticks, and coconut shells to make his one-of-a-kind creations. Nelson makes his living by selling his craft and walk endlessly on the beach hoping to find tourists that will buy his pieces.
Born in Leogane Francois started learning how to sculpt oil drum into beautiful art pieces when he was only 12 years old from his brother-in-law. Now 35 years later he is still perfecting his skills and has taken it upon himself to teach other artisans whom he also help by either buying work from or by having them work at his shop. Francois is very passionate about his work which is more than art but also his only mean of survival. He is very proud of his shop (Maranatha Mahogany Shop) which he opened in 1992 to broaden his clientele.
